Union club donates $10,000 to local library
The Rotary Club of Union has donated $10,000 to the Carnegie Library to assure continued children's programming throughout the year, and especially during the summer months. The donation will fund Summer Reading special events, the purchase of books and audiobooks for the youngest readers through teens, as well as art supplies and materials that make the library the place for kids to be during the summer.
Rotary dollars will also be used to promote literacy programs at the library for the children of Union County once school begins in the fall.
Library Director Nancy Rosenwald said: “The Carnegie Library, the Best Small Library in America, thanks the Union Rotary Club for its on-going support, and for making a difference in the lives of young people in Union County. The leaders of the Rotary Club recognized our financial need this year, and stepped up to the plate to help solve a serious problem. The hundreds of children pouring in to the library to participate in events, borrow books and spend time at their favorite location would have been disappointed this summer had we not received support from the Union Rotary Club.”
