Pickens Rotary club sponsors water system in El Salvador
The Pickens Rotary Club, in conjunction with District 7750 and the Rotary Foundation, is partnering with the Sirama San Miguel Rotary Club to provide clean drinking water to villages near San Marcos Lempa in El Salvador. The project director is the Clemson Engineers without Borders (EWB). EWB and Pickens Rotarians will need to complete at least one site trip per year through 2011 for site assessment and water system implementations. The cooperative, La Coordinadora, will own, maintain, and operate the equipment that will be purchased with Rotary funds.
